Fountain Church

The Fountain Church started in spring of 2005, with a handful of people that love God and love Tumwater – but the story goes back a bit further…

BACK A WAYS

Kristy and I both grew up in the area, and we both graduated from Tumwater High School (Class of 91, Kristy class of 93).  We officially met shortly after high school; all I could think was, “I’ve got to know this gal!”  After lots of coffee nights with friends (the Coco’s crew), late nights talking, and lots of me following her around, we were finally married in January 1995.

We moved that May to Mossyrock, Washington, where we worked at Mossyrock Assembly of God as youth pastors.  During the the ten years that followed, we continued our journey:  growing as leaders, having kids, buying our first house.

CONVERSATIONS

It was around 2003 that I started having conversations with other pastors and leaders about planting churches in the Pacific NW.  This was something that had been slow cooking in my heart for over 12 years, but was now coming to the forefront of our life and ministry.  Every time I turned around I was having another conversation about the possibility of planting a church.  Feeling that God was leading us back to our hometown to start a new church, we started the process of church planting with the NW Ministry Network.

NEW BEGINNINGS

In August 2004 we moved back to Tumwater to start The Fountain.  Friends and family rallied around us, and that fall we started meeting together at the Black Lake Grange to pray and discuss the future possibilities.  On Easter 2005 we kicked off our first public gathering at the Tyee Center, and after a stint of nomadic wanderings (coffee shops, the Old Town Center, etc.) we landed at Black Hills High School.

In addition to our gatherings and LifeGroups, we also have partnered with several local service efforts and community groups.  We have served together, laughed together, prayed together, and grown together.  We have seen people find new life and hope.  It’s not just my story; it’s his, and hers.  It’s ultimately God’s.  And the story goes on – add your own chapter…
